Topic: The Changing Landscape of International Development and the Role of the World Bank
Speaker: Dr. Eduardo Velez Bustillo, Visiting Professor, Kobe University
Eduardo Velez Bustillo, Ph.D. (Sociology, University of Illinois). Dr. Eduardo Velez Bustillo is a Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies, Kobe University, and a former World Bank Education Sector Manager for East Asia and the Pacific as well as Latin America and the Caribbean. His main field of expertise is the Economics of Education. During his distinguished career at the World Bank, he also served as Human Development Sector Leader for China, Human Development Cluster Leader for Uganda and Tanzania, and Principal Education Specialist for Eastern and Southern Africa. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University and a Visiting Professor at Peking University. He has authored ten books and published nearly 100 articles in academic journals and research reports.
