The Basic Income Movement in Korea: Past, Present, and Future

要旨

This presentation aims to provide a brief introduction to the history of the basic income movement in Korea and to highlight the key issues in the Korean basic income discourse.
First, the history of the Korean basic income movement will be examined by dividing it into three periods: the emergence, expansion, and stagnation/subordination periods.
The main issues to be addressed include the theoretical debate surrounding the basic income theory of ‘Common Wealth Dividends’, problems related to political parties and political movements, and the issue of integrating with social movements.
Finally, the presentation will summarize the prospects and challenges for the Korean basic income movement.
